Whole Wheat Bread or Multigrain Bread?

Here comes the modernised so-called whole wheat bread.

So, what's all the hype of this whole wheat bread, and does it really deserves its hype?? Yes!!

Whole wheat bread is made from wheat flour which is not refined, so the 2 outer layers of wheat grain, which are actually removed during the refining process are intact, which means that all the nutrients like Fibre, Protein, Vitamins, Minerals are all safe and sound;-)

The amount of carbohydrate is same in both white bread and whole wheat bread, but the whole wheat bread contains complex carbohydrates(fibre) which takes some time to absorb and keeps you full after a limited intake of whole wheat bread slices which is a fantastic property in dragging you away from craving for more and more as what happens after eating white bread slices.

Vitamins like B1, B2, B3, B6, Folic acid, Vitamin E, and minerals like Magnesium, Zinc, Manganese, Copper, Calcium, Selenium, and very less amount of fat are present in whole wheat bread.

Now what is this multigrain bread? It is bread made from different types of grains(wheat, barley, oats etc..) But as whole wheat or whole grain bread, we cannot assume that multigrain bread is exclusive of all whole grains, as multigrain denotes more than 1 grain be it 5 or 8, but these gains may be whole or refined. So just check the ingredients list if the grains are whole or refined.

And beware before buying brown bread.. (Ha.. Nice tongue twister;-) You guys have to check clearly if it is enriched or caramelised which means the food manufacturers are just colouring your white bread with added sugar and misleading you as it is whole wheat bread which is brown in colour. So, a little investment of your time to check the food ingredient list of bread packs will help you eat healthier in case you are worried about the added calories.

Finally, Whole wheat or Whole grain bread is better than multigrain bread :-)
